ABOUT

Dana Booher is a saxophone soloist, chamber musician, and pedagogue who has performed across Asia, Europe, and the United States.

Booher is a frequent orchestral performer, having appeared with ensembles including the National Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, and Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. He has been a member of the United States Navy Band since 2011 and is frequently featured as concerto soloist with the ensemble. In 2018 he was invited to Seoul to perform as concerto soloist with the Republic of Korea Navy Band at their 73rd anniversary concert. He has been the coordinator of the Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium since 2015 and serves as the command’s lead recording producer.

Booher holds the baritone saxophone chair in the Zzyzx Quartet, an ensemble formed in 2007 which has performed internationally and released two full-length albums. He earned Bachelor of Music and Master of Music at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where he studied with Otis Murphy.

Booher is a Yamaha Performing Artist and an Artist-Clinician for D’Addario. He performs exclusively on Yamaha saxophones and D’Addario reeds.
