ABOUT

Yamaha Performing Artist and Clinician Tracy Harris is a highly sought after soloist, chamber musician, and author. Performing internationally, Ms. Harris gives solo performances, chamber recitals, clinics, flute boots, and master classes. She has soloed with symphony orchestras from the Santa Barbara Symphony, Sequoia Symphony to the Pacific Coast Symphony, and has held many first chair positions including the Santa Maria Symphony, the Pacific Coast Symphony, and the West Coast Symphony. She is alto flutist and soloist in residence with the Sequoia Symphony.

Ms. Harris is the Artistic Director and Founder of the “Tracy Harris Flute Boot Camps,” as well as The Wyndfall Chamber Music Series. Ms. Harris is the author of The Flute Boot Camp Manual – A Universal Guide to Flute and Piccolo published by Wingert-Jones, as well as her book Picc Perfect and The Lyric Flutist also published by Wingert-Jones. She also has her own custom designed fingering and trill charts published by Wingert-Jones.

Ms. Harris records on the Elite Source Label, and her album Iroquois Suite features works by Herman Beeftink. Her album Eklectick, recorded with her duo partner Svetlana Rudikova-Harris, features classics, new arrangements, and compositions written by herself and Dr. Todd Harris. Ms. Harris studied on scholarship at both The New England Conservatory of Music with Claude Monteux and at the University of California, Santa Barbara with Jill Felber, where she received her Bachelor of Music in flute performance with high honors, in 1991. Ms. Harris has also been a student of Julius Baker, Jim Walker, and Anne Giles. Ms. Harris has received performance grants from organizations such as The Pillsbury Foundation, The National Arts and Letters Society, The Scandinavian Foundation, and The Santa Barbara Foundation. Ms. Harris is also the winner of the 2010 San Francisco International Flute Festival Flute Soloist Competition.

Ms. Harris has judged state band and orchestral competitions for over 20 years for organizations such as CBDA, CMEA, and TKMEA; and has had numerous students win local, state, and national competitions. Ms. Harris regularly has students accepted at the top conservatories such as New England Conservatory of Music and Carnegie Mellon and also has students that occupy chairs in professional symphony orchestras and wind ensembles throughout the United States.

Ms. Harris has performed on NPR, The Infinite Mind, and at NFA conventions and had three proposals selected for the 2014 NFA convention in Chicago where she conducted a showcase with her flute orchestra, Wyndfall.

Ms. Harris presented at NAfME’s 2015 National In-Service Conference in Nashville, Tennessee and performed, presented, and conducted at the Mid-South Flute Festival. Ms. Harris was also a featured guest artist at Jill Felber’s Flute Summit at UCSB in Santa Barbara. Additionally, Ms. Harris has been a guest artist, performer, and presenter at The Midwest Clinic, The Boston Flute Academy, Delaware State Music Day, Boston College, University of the Redlands, GMEA, TMEA, NYSSMA, Cal State Bakersfield’s Flute Day, San Francisco International Flute Festival, The Coastal Flute Society, The Central Valley Flute Society, and has appeared with her publisher at the Midwest Clinic.

Ms. Harris is the founder of The Tracy Harris Flute Master Class series, and has worked with notables such as Jim Walker, Tadeu Coelho, John Barcellona, Mary Karen Clardy, Jill Felber, and piccolo legend Nicola Mazzanti. Ms. Harris premiered three works by Todd Harris with Nicola Mazzanti, one of which was showcased at James Galway’s International Master Class in Switzerland. Ms. Harris has been the flute professor at Bakersfield College and is currently flute professor and Artist in Residence at the College of the Sequoias as well as being the inventor of the very popular sound enhancing device Flute Barrel Bling™️ sold in major retailers internationally and she is also the founder/owner of Flute Finery a premiere flute key jewelry company that has been receiving rave reviews for many years now. Tracy will also be performing with the COS Winds for our nations 250th birthday in Washington DC July 4, 2026. Ms. Harris is a strong advocate for the flute youth in our country giving over 100 clinics a year in the public school systems both here in the USA and abroad.
