These were the words of Andy Newmark shortly before taking his incredible opportunity of auditioning for Sly Stone, knowing he had 20 seconds to make impression. Andy did make an impression when asked to play his funkiest beat and landed the gig with Sly & the Family Stone who had inherited the funk torch from James Brown and was in the process of revolutionizing popular dance music. Andy has also recorded and performed with such artists as John Lennon, Yoko Ono, David Bowie, B.B King, David Sanborn, Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, Carly Simon, Carole King and Steve Winwood.
