Barrett Martin is a Grammy-winning producer, composer, percussionist, and writer who has been playing music professionally for almost 40 years. His work can be heard on over 200 albums and soundtracks, including albums by R.E.M., Mad Season, Screaming Trees, Tuatara, Queens Of The Stone Age, Stone Temple Pilots, delta blues legend Cedell Davis, and Brazilian superstar, Nando Reis. He is particularly known for introducing the vibraphone and marimba on many popular albums recorded during the alternative music scene of the 1990s and 2000s.
Barrett holds a master’s degree in ethnomusicology and linguistics, and his work in that field has taken him to 6 continents, working on projects in the Alaskan Arctic, the Peruvian Amazon, Brazil, Cuba, West Africa, and the Palestinian West Bank.
