Brendan Hill, born in London in 1970, first began playing music (violin) at age 3. After moving to the US, he took up the drums at age 10. He was a member of his high school jazz band, participating in and winning first place in the Berklee School of Music High School Jazz competition 3 of his 4 years in the program. At home, Brendan started a band in his basement and after hearing harmonica virtuoso John Popper audition for the school Jazz band, invited him to join. In 1987, Brendan moved to New York City to attend the New School for Social Research’s Jazz program, studying with their legendary all-star staff including such greats as Chico Hamilton, Bernard Purdie, Larry Willis and Jerry Gonzalez.
Brendan has toured professionally for over 35 years. He has recorded over 13 studio albums and 4 live albums, winning a Grammy in 1996. He has produced and engineered numerous side projects.
