Chris Smucker is a New York City based saxophonist and woodwind doubler. He is a regular in pit orchestras, having held chairs and subbed on dozens of shows on and off Broadway. Most recently he has been a chair holder at The Queen of Versailles and Water for Elephants. He has also been a regular orchestra member for The Christmas Spectacular featuring the Radio City Rockettes.
Chris is also active in the club date scene playing jazz and pop gigs around the tri-state area. Known for his versatility, Chris continues to be an in demand instrumentalist across a wide variety of genres and performance settings.
In addition to his playing career, Chris composes and produces electroacoustic music and EDM. In 2023 his compositions were featured in a workshop of FORTUITY, a new theatrical endeavor by Clarissa Marie Ligon in collaboration with The Public Theatre. In 2021 Chris released Signal Left, an EP of electronica consisting of music that reflects his multifaceted musical background.
Chris is a Yamaha and D’Addario artist and exclusively plays their equipment. He holds a BM from West Chester University of Pennsylvania where he studied music and multiple woodwinds.
