Dr. Christopher Davis is Professor of Percussion at North Greenville University where he teaches applied percussion, directs the NGU Percussion Ensemble, and teaches various other music classes as assigned. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Arts in Percussion Performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance from Capital University. He has studied with Eric Paton, Jim Ed Cobbs, Robert Breithaupt, Gary Olmstead, Michael Kingan, Scott Herring, and Guinean master drummer Bolokada Conde.
Christopher is Principal Percussionist with the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra and performs with numerous other regional orchestras. He has had the honor of performing at conferences for the Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA), the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA), the South Carolina Music Educators Association (SCMEA), and at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC). He has led clinics at the SCMEA Conference, the SC Day of Percussion, and PASIC. In addition to his duties at NGU and as a performer, Christopher loves teaching at area high schools, teaching private lessons to all ages, and presenting performances, clinics, and masterclasses.
Christopher has served as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President, and President of the South Carolina chapter of PAS, while also serving PAS on the University Pedagogy Committee and the Education Committee. He is a Yamaha Performing Artist, a member of the Black Swamp Percussion Educator Network, and an endorser for Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets, Remo drumheads, and Sabian cymbals. Christopher is a member of Grace Church-Greer and serves regularly as a drumset player for their worship team. Christopher and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Greer, South Carolina with their four children.
