Christopher Still is Second Trumpet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, where he has performed since 2007 at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and on international tours. Before joining the LA Phil, he built his career with principal and associate principal positions in orchestras including Colorado, Dallas, and Charleston, while also performing with ensembles such as the St. Louis Symphony and the Grant Park Festival Orchestra. His sound can be heard on major orchestral recordings as well as on the soundtracks of numerous Hollywood films and television shows.
A Yamaha Artist and committed educator, Christopher is the founder of Honesty Pill Coaching, a program that helps musicians navigate the high-stakes world of orchestral auditions. His approach combines practical preparation strategies with mindset and performance training, enabling musicians to perform at their highest level when it matters most. He has led masterclasses and workshops for universities and festivals nationwide, building a reputation as a clear, engaging, and supportive mentor.
Originally from New York, Christopher grew up in a musical household and first pursued music education at SUNY-Potsdam’s Crane School of Music before earning a performance degree from New England Conservatory. He was twice a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, an experience that helped shape his passion for contemporary repertoire—a passion he continues to explore through the LA Phil’s innovative Green Umbrella concert series.
