Daniel Wright is a Philadelphia-based professional trumpet player and Yamaha Artist known for his versatility across orchestral, theatrical, and contemporary touring environments. He serves as Lead Trumpet and Music Director for The Rock Orchestra, performing internationally across North America and Europe in a high-energy crossover production that blends classical instrumentation with modern rock and metal.
In addition to his touring work, Daniel maintains an active presence in the theater world as a pit orchestra musician. As a member of the Philadelphia musicians’ union (Local 77), he has performed in Philadelphia, augmenting the orchestras for national touring productions including The Sound of Music, Suffs, and The Wiz at the Academy of Music, as well as Some Like It Hot at the Forrest Theatre. His experience in these settings reflects a deep command of stylistic nuance, precision, and consistency across demanding performance schedules.
Equally at home in commercial, classical, crossover, and jazz settings, Daniel brings a powerful, stylistically flexible approach to performance. He is recognized for his ability to adapt seamlessly between musical contexts, from amplified touring environments to large-scale theatrical productions.
In addition to performing, Daniel has contributed as an educator, serving as a Teaching Artist with the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra and as a jazz ensemble coach and trumpet instructor at the University of Pennsylvania. His teaching reflects the same practical, performance-driven approach that defines his playing career.
