Saxophonist and composer Jack Wilkins recently retired as Professor of Jazz Studies at the University of South Florida School of Music where he was Director of the Jazz Studies program. Professor Wilkins was appointed as a 2017-18 Fulbright Scholar to the University of Calgary, as Research Chair in the College of Creative and Performing Arts. Jack Wilkins remains an active performer, clinician and adjudicator.
Jack Wilkins has seven CD’s out as a leader and he is a featured soloist on the critically-acclaimed recordings by Chuck Owen and the Jazz Surge, including the 2017 album Whispers on the Wind, for which he was a Grammy Award finalist as a performer, and the 2013 album River Runs: A Concerto for Jazz Guitar, Saxophone and Orchestra as saxophone soloist.
Jack’s latest project Acadian Rhythms features his original musical compositions and performances inspired by his appointment as 2022 Artist-in-Residence at Acadia National Park in Maine.
