ABOUT

Janet Axelrod is a flute soloist, collaborative artist, educator, and producer. She released the debut album of a multi-recording project she commissioned, entitled Act One. As an American Artist Ambassador, she was sent to the 2025 International Expo in Osaka, Japan by Meridian International and the U.S. Department of State. 2025 has also included performances at the MidAtlantic Flute Fair, the New York Flute Club Flute Fair, and the Chicago Flute Festival.

Janet was solo flutist and piccoloist for the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra for over 20 years and is currently performing on Broadway. Her Broadway credits are numerous, including The Lion King, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, and 25 more. She works with the New York City Opera, NJ Symphony, American Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, School of American Ballet, and numerous recording studios.

Janet has performed with Brian Wilson for Pet Sounds on Stage and toured with a variety of amazing artists, from Deep Purple to Andrea Bocelli. She regularly records for film, video games, and TV (including Sesame Street, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, the Super Bowl, and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade), and for live NBC broadcasts. Janet is also a passionate world flute artist, performing on native flutes from cultures across all continents.

Janet is an Advisory Board member for Maestra Music, a collective supporting women and non-binary creatives in theater, and serves on the Trial Board at AFM Local 802. She teaches at the Trinity School in NYC and includes The Juilliard School and Manhattan School in the list of masterclasses and clinics she teaches throughout the U.S.
