ABOUT

Jerriald Dillard currently serves as the Director of Bands at Oak Ridge High School in Conroe ISD, where he conducts the Wind Ensemble and leads the Percussion Program. He also serves as the Fine Arts Department Chair for Oak Ridge High School and as the Band Facilitator for Conroe ISD Fine Arts. Mr. Dillard holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from Sam Houston State University.

Under his direction, the Oak Ridge High School Bands have consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes Awards in Concert and Sight-Reading. As co-director, he has helped lead the Marching Band to multiple UIL Sweepstakes Awards, numerous UIL Area Marching Contest Finals appearances, and four appearances at the UIL State Marching Contest.

The Oak Ridge Percussion Ensemble has performed at prestigious national events, including the Bands of America National Percussion Festival (2005) and the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic (2007, 2014). The ensemble won the Percussive Arts Society’s “Call for Tapes” International Contest in 2008 and 2015, and the Mark of Excellence National Percussion Ensemble Contest in 2013. In 2019, the group performed at the Western International Band Clinic in Seattle.

In 2024, the Oak Ridge Wind Ensemble was named a National Winner in the Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors Project. In 2025, the ensemble will perform as a Program Spotlight Invited Ensemble at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic and Convention in San Antonio.

Mr. Dillard is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and Phi Beta Mu. He has served as Region 9 Representative for the Texas Bandmasters Association, Chairman of the UIL PML Committee for Class I Percussion Ensembles, and a member of the Percussive Arts Society Percussion Ensemble Committee and the UIL Sight-Reading Evaluation Committee for Bands. He was inducted into Who’s Who Among American Teachers in 2007 and was named a UIL Sponsors Excellence Award Winner in 2021.

Mr. Dillard is an educational endorser for Evans Drumheads, Innovative Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, and Yamaha Corporation of America. He resides in the Oak Ridge community with his wife, Jennifer—also a band director—and their daughters, Elizabeth Lee and Jessica Lee.
