Mary Thornton is Professor of Trumpet and Chair of the Department of Music at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, where she has received the University Award for both Creative Excellence and Service. She is a member of the Mid Texas, Corpus Christi, and Victoria Symphonies and has performed as an orchestral and chamber musician on stages from Seguin, TX, to Sydney, Australia. Mary has been involved with many commissions and supports the creation of new music for trumpet. She can be heard in recordings on the Summit, MSR, and Klavier labels. She lives happily on the Gulf Coast with a 72 pound poodle named Murphy.
