Argentine-American pianist Mirian Conti, based in New York City and Buenos Aires, is known for her technical brilliance, artistic insight, and stylistic versatility across a wide range of repertoire. Her prolific recording catalog and global performances have earned her critical acclaim and numerous awards. In recognition of her contributions, a scholarship in her name was established at The Juilliard School by the Edwin Bachman Estate, and she was honored as one of Juilliard’s “100 Outstanding Alumni” during its Centennial celebration.
A graduate of The Juilliard School (BM and MM), she studied under Richard Fabre, Josef Raieff, Genny Blech, Freda Rosenblatt, and Byron Janis. Her recordings on labels such as Koch International, Albany, Toccata Classics, XLNT, Island, Parnassus, Towerhill, and Steinway & Sons have been praised by Gramophone, Fanfare, and International Piano Magazine. Highlights include Danzas Fantasticas, Ernesto Halffter: Sonatina, Looking South, Children’s World, and Music of Benjamin Lees, which won an award from International Piano Magazine (UK). Her complete Chopin Mazurkas was lauded by Fanfare for its imaginative artistry. Recent releases on the Naxos Grand Piano label feature the complete solo piano works of Lalo Schifrin and Tangorama.
Conti has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, and across the U.S., appearing at venues such as Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Her international engagements include performances in countries like China, Italy, France, Spain, Latvia, Vietnam, and Morocco.
A passionate advocate for Latin American and Spanish piano repertoire, Conti has presented lecture-recitals and masterclasses at institutions including Oberlin College, Manhattan School of Music, Eastman School of Music, and the conservatories of Beijing and Dalian. She has also served as a juror in numerous international piano competitions and received awards recognizing her dedication to the Latin American classical music community, including the Galo Award and recognition from the Latin American Cultural Center of Queens.
Conti is the founder and artistic director of multiple initiatives promoting music and cultural exchange. These include the I Certamen Musical Rioplatense (Argentina/Uruguay), the NYC International Tango Competition, and Teachers del Norte – Pianists del Sur, a U.S.-Argentina exchange supported by the American Embassy in Buenos Aires. She also founded 5@5 at DiMenna and 6@6 at Yamaha, concert series dedicated to showcasing top pianists from around the globe.
A pioneer in distance learning, she led masterclasses using Yamaha’s Disklavier Remote Lesson technology from Latin America in 2018 and 2019, and continues this work as a Yamaha Master Educator. In 2016, she directed Grandes Maestros Argentinos, bringing 16 esteemed Argentine pianists to mentor young talent in Buenos Aires.
Since 2007, Mirian Conti has served on the faculty of the Juilliard School’s Evening Division, where she continues to educate and inspire the next generation of pianists.
