ABOUT

Sherry Rubins is Professor of Practice and coordinator of the percussion program at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Mrs. Rubins directs the percussion and steel drum ensembles, and she teaches undergraduate and graduate percussion majors. Mrs. Rubins is Principal Timpanist and Personnel Manager with the Mid-Texas Symphony, and Principal Timpanist with the Victoria (TX) Bach Festival. For over 35 years Sherry performed as a substitute musician with the San Antonio Symphony, where she also held appointments as acting Principal Timpanist and assistant Principal Percussionist. 

She has presented clinics and performances throughout the south Texas area, including the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association Conventions, as well as at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. Mrs. Rubins is a member of the Board of Advisors for the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) and has served as vice-president of the Texas Chapter of PAS.

Mrs. Rubins is an artist/educational clinician for Yamaha, Vic Firth, Remo, and Zildjian.
