ABOUT

Todd Butler is a versatile performer, educator, composer and arranger in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area.

Todd began his musical journey in Pottstown, PA before attending Towson University to study jazz and composition under the legendary Hank Levy (composer of “Whiplash” from the movie Whiplash). He launched into a career as a full-time musician and recording artist during his junior year while earning a Bachelor of Science in Trumpet Performance and a Master of Music in Jazz Performance.

Todd has enjoyed an active performance and recording career as a leader and freelance musician working with numerous artists and ensembles in many styles of music.

As an educator, Todd is a college lecturer, trumpet instructor, adjudicator, and clinician who has taught at 10 different schools, taught approximately 75,000 trumpet lessons and performed several hundred clinics over the span of 35 years.

Todd is founder of both the Music Reading Class online music education resource company and the Help Music Education Foundation nonprofit organization.
