ABOUT

Vicki Peterson Jenks, native North Dakotan, received her musical training at Minot State University, University of Washington Stevens Point, and Baylor University. In 1976, she founded the percussion program at University of Texas-El Paso. From 1980-2005, Vicki marveled at the growth of Jenks Music Studio, Wisconsin’s largest private percussion studio. Vicki’s great passion is serving as the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra’s Director of Percussion for over 40 years.

Empowering and in collaboration with others, she assists in building communities of harmony and respect. Vicki was deeply honored to be inducted into the Percussive Arts Society’s Hall of Fame (2008), named Waushara County’s Citizen of the Year (2012), and receiving the Rabin Youth Artistic Achievement Award (2022). As a dedicated American Red Cross Emeritus Board Member and Disaster Action Team volunteer, she and her husband, John, created the ‘unique-in-the-USA’ Heroes Musicales. Supported by countless compassionate donors, service clubs, and schools, robust funds were raised for local disaster relief and Service to the Armed Forces.

A graduate of Wartburg Theological Seminary, Vicki adores connecting “the bookends of life” (youth and elders) via chaplaincy, drum circles, and diaconal ministry.
