Florence Scattergood is the co-founder and lead director of the
Youth Chorus of Central Texas. She is a veteran choral music educator has taught at 11 schools in four districts. Scattergood has been honored as district teacher of the year for both
Irving and
Waco Independent School Districts and as regional teacher of the year for the 81 school districts of Region 10. In 2009, she was the first recipient of the
Baylor University Music Education Distinguished Alumni Award. She is a member of
American Choral Directors Association,
Texas Choral Directors Association,
Texas Music Educators Association and
Texas Music Adjudicators Association.
